In January 1958, after finishing Boot Camp at San Diego, I reported to my first school at Norman, Oklahoma to learn the fundamentals of Naval Aviation. My next stop was the Aviation Photo School at Pensacola, Florida in March. I reported aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Franklin D Roosevelt CVA-42 in June 1958. After 2 Cruises in the Mediterranean I transferred, in July 1960, to the Naval Support Activity Photo Lab in Naples, Italy where I served until March 1961. My next (and last) duty station was with the Fleet Camera Party (Atlantic) in Norfolk, VA. until my seperation from Active Duty in Nov. 1961.
I am a retired volunteer crew member of the Historical ship SS Lane Victory in Los Angeles Harbor (San Pedro) and retired Secretary of the FDR Reunion Association, administer the FDR Facebook Group page and volunteer with a local Heritage Society.
